Galapagos Entrance Fee and Transit Card: The Galapagos Islands, located in Ecuador, require visitors to pay an entrance fee and obtain a Transit Control Card (often referred to as a “Transit card”) to help fund conservation efforts and manage tourism:

  • Galapagos National Park Entrance Fee: The entrance fee is a mandatory payment for all tourists visiting the Galapagos Islands. The fee is $100 for most adult foreign visitors, while children received discounted rates. Ecuadorian citizens and residents paid a reduced fee.
  • Transit Control Card (Transit Card): The Transit Control Card is a document issued by the Galapagos Government Council that permits visitors to enter and move within the islands. It is distinct from the entrance fee and serves as a record of visitors during their stay. The card cost is $20, though, like the entrance fee, prices are subject to change, so verify the current fee before your travel.

Tourists typically pay these fees at the airports. Be sure to bring cash, as payment by credit card is not available. It is possible to prepay both fees, Nomadic will assist you with that process; this can be especially beneficial for travelers who have booked their Galapagos trip in advance and not at the last minute.
